28.08.2010 23:28 - Album recordings ...
We've been busy this week. We spent Thursday at Charade Studio recording guitar parts and percussions with Henri and Ville. Lance and Pentti Amore were recording the vocals at Wolfbeat Studio. Thursday was niiiice, although I did feel quite exhausted recording until midnight after a hard work day. Then we had a sauna with Henri and got a couple of hours of sleep. Then to work at 7 and after the workday a bus to Oulunsalo for more recording. We had a nice time at Pentti's temporary studio at his parent's house. Drinking, hanging aroud, sauna and cool recordings as well.

Today I woke up at the floor, after a couple of hours of nice sleep and faint memories of last night. Then we continued with percussion and guitar recordings. Lance had left early in the morning for some more pressing business.

After a productive day at Oulunsalo we took the stuff to Herukka where we'll continue percussion, guitar and background vocal recordings tomorrow.

There's still lots of work to do but I'm sure the results will be more than satisfactory. Just wait and see.

03.08.2010 08:31 - QStock-afterpartying
We spent two days last weekend playing at Gloria, Oulu. Had to stay away from the QStock this year, but then again, there weren't too many super bands for me anyway. Except the Pandas of course.

Hell of a gear roading and soundchecking on Friday, four hours all together. We did the setup and soundcheck for both nights on Friday.

The Friday's gig was acoustic. We hadn't played an acoustic set for quite a while so we had four practices on the previous week.

The gig was nice, lots of people and good relaxed feeling. The place was not ideal for an acoustic set, though. Too much disco noise coming from Cabaret night club that's next door. It was quite hard to hear what we were playing but we managed. The playing time was also a bit too late for the second set. The bar closed soon after our performance, so we didn't have too much time to hang around at the bar.

I spent the night at hotel, the other gays went home, I guess.

On saturday we did some minor renovation stuff at Ville's place and then had a sauna at my place with Henri, Matti the sailor and Pappa. Then a bus to city and some food at 45 Special.

It was nice to play a full electric set after the Friday and we managed to get a pretty good meininki.

Thanks for everyone who showed up, the bar was pretty packed on both nights.

Now we will concentrate on finishing the album recordings and there's a gig at Hevimesta next week as well. Hope to see ya all there!

02.03.2010 09:45 - Studio stuff...
Hey!

We've been working hard recording our first full-length album.

Ville and Henri recorded the drums and basses some time ago with Lebu Tsernobyl (and I did some basic distorted guitars as well), then we recorded some clean guitars with Henri at my home studio.

Last week we did another session at my studio with Henri and Lebu and managed to get all the distorted guitars recorded.

At the same time, Lance and Pentti Amore (with help from Henri as well) have been recording the vocal tracks at another studio.

I must say that I'm for the first time totally satisfied with the guitar tracks and sounds. Can't wait for this album to be finished!

The vocals still need quite a lot of studio days, then some mixing and mastering but we aim on releasing a single or two this spring. The whole album should be released before the end of the year.

03.08.2009 11:44 - Awesomo2000!
We had another awesome Alhonkaturock-trip last weekend. Lots of nice people, great bands... And on top of all that, we played a very good gig.

Thanks everyone who came to watch us and especially thanks for the organizers for making it all possible.

25.03.2009 09:00 - Studio ...
So we got our recordings with Hiili Hiilesmaa (he has produced HIM, Apocalyptica, Lordi etc.) done, the mixing will be done a month later.

We first played drums, bass and guitar in together. Then Henri played some fixes on the bass tracks. The bass was played through Henri's old Comet tube radio (and an additional direct line in as well, I suppose).

Then we decided to re-play all guitar parts. The guitars were played through my JCM 800 and Henri's Marshall bass cabinet, some clean guitars were also played directly in -- they will be processed with plugins or re-amped later if needed. Oh, and I also used delay, chorus and overdrive from my effects pedal.

The studio at Oulun Ammattikorkeakoulu had pretty nice facilities, along with Protools 8.

Even though the schedule was a bit too tight, Hiili as a real pro managed to pull it all together and we were able to record a pretty good package all together.

I wasn't there while the guys recorded the vocal tracks (had to rush back to work, as usual) but they should be good, at least that's what they told me :)

Now we're just waiting for the mixing, spending our time writing new songs and practicing an acoustic set for the future gigs.

23.03.2009 10:25 - It's studio time
So we're starting our new promo CD recordings today at Oulun Ammattikorkeakoulu with Hiili Hiilesmaa!

We spent a couple of hours yesterday with Hiili at our rehearsal place doing some final adjustments on the song arrangements and now we're all set and ready to go!

Ville bought a new drum set as well so we're expecting a massive improvement on the drum sounds :)

And I have a new effects pedal, too big to fit anywhere. But it looks fucken awesome.

We have two definite hit songs coming, just wait and see!

09.01.2009 10:46 - NZ touring
Yeah, we did it!

I'm now travelling back to Finland, Ville left a few days ago and the other guys are coming a bit later.

Lots and lots of good memories and nice experiences, new friends, and just fucken awesome time.

I'll be writing a longer story here in a couple of days, as soon as I get back to cold and dark Finland.

27.07.2008 17:03 - Q-Stock
Thank you to everyone who attended our gig yesterday at Q-Stock. The weather was perfect and it set the mood for a very nice after party (which lasted too early into the morning).

16 demos were sold which is basically platinum by our standards. We have loads of demos left so if you would still like a copy, there are plenty to go around.

Next week will be in Kemi for the opening of Alhonkatu Rock. If you are going to be in the "AREA" then make sure you are in Koodi on Friday night. We are really looking forward to the gig.

15.04.2008 13:07 - Yeah.
We've been so fucken lazy that we haven't written anything about our latest gigs...

We'll here it goes, as far as I rembember.

15.03.2008 Kalpea Kukko, Kajaani

Our first gig after the promo single recordings. It was fun to get back on the road and to conqueror new frontier.

Well, the crowd turnout was, as usual, a bit of a disappointment. But that's how it is when you go to a place like Kajaani without any real publicity, commercially released records etc.

But guess what? We gave our best to the people that were there, had loads of fun and loads of 'refreshments' during the night :) It was our first gig with the new song, Missionary, which worked out nicely.

02.04.2008 21:00 Semifinal, HELSINKI (+Starcrash)

Our first trip to Helsinki. We started off from Oulu early in the morning, drove the whole day (thanks Matti for the driving and the company), telling lousy jokes all the way, and generally having a nice time.

Then the sound check at Semifinal, some food. Thanks Starcrash guys for eating all the meat. All we were left with was some veggie-crap :) Well, actually it was ok.

Then some hanging around, some beer and stuff.

The gig was ok, but by no means the best we've done. There was maybe 20 people watching, but then again, what can you expect in a middle of the week, with two quite unknown bands.

Ville and I had to take a flight early in the morning and get to work. It wasn't the most productive work day I've had, that's for sure...

04.04.2008 20:00 - Takajärven nuorisotalo, KEMI. Acoustic gig.

Ok, this was a really quick trip. Lance and I started off from our rehersal place around 16:00, picked Ville up on the way and drove straight to Kemi. Henri was there already to practice with his other band project. We arrived there a bit after six, quickly put the gear up and started playing straight away.

It was really nice to do an acoustic, really laid-back and slow-tempo gig. And the people there really seemed to enjoy, eventhough we were a bit unsure how that kind of performance would work for the youngsters.

Then we had something to eat and headed back to Oulu where Henri, Lance and I spent the usual Friday at 45 Special.

10.03.2008 10:05 - Studio ...
Hey hey hey.

We spent two Looooong days in studio this week, recording new promo for your pleasure!

Other guys started both days in the morning while I was sweating at work, trying to keep my thoughts in boring job stuff, waiting for the day to end. Then at 15:00, I rode my bike to the studio.

We managed to get two songs on the tape, a better version of a song which most of you already know, and a brand new, never-heard, versatile, in times even a bit "progey" song, with all the elements we're best known of -- those in-your-face screamos, floating-in-the-air quiet parts and killer choruses!

Actually, we were first planning on recording another song, J1, but since this new song sounded so awesome, we decided to change the song and started to work hard on this new one.

Monday

First the drums, on which Ville did an awesome job, playing tight as ever!

Then the bass lines, which were recorded through Henri's JCM800 and also an old tube radio, which has the sweetest, crunchy sound I have ever heard.

Then in the evening some guitars. The distorted parts through my JCM800, the clean and the semi-distorted parts through that tube radio again.

Tuesday

Guys started to work on the vocals. Lance sounded brilliant on these! We did some of the screaming parts through a megaphone we found from the studio :)

Then some backing vocals, a cool "lesta-kuoro", as Pentti Amore said, on the Quiet :)

Then some more guitars that were left undone on Monday.

And then more of those backing vox.

While other guys left to a bar to celebrate a good studio session, I headed home to get some sleep, getting ready for the next day at work. Man, how lame is that?

The Morley guys Pentti Amore and Lebu Tsernobyl did a fucken great job recording and mixing our stuff, also giving some great pointers for the background vocals -- the one thing we've been missing until now. Henri, Lance and Jarkko did a splendid job on those!

The mixing of the recording is still in progress, and we're anxiously waiting for the final results ...
